Writing … as in writing a proper blog post is … Art! You don’t realise it when you can do it. Everything’s ‘very smooth’ when it keeps coming to you – ideas, thoughts, words, sentences…it’s only when you suffer writer’s block that you realise it is indeed an art!

So, after a dozen unfinished drafts, I guess that’s the fancy term for the disease I have been suffering with lately!

Add to that the heavy dosage of microblogging platforms – read Twitter/Buzz/Facebook…and conversations – read Gtalk/FB Chat…it’s tough to weave something more than a sentence or two anymore.

And so I am trying to get back to the good-ol’ days – specially after reading a variety of blogs – interesting, verbose, inspiring and inspired recently! That may involve some short/trashy posts to begin with (like this one ) …before I resume ‘flow- blogging’ (for want of a better term) again!

That’s what could best describe the Maths UG Lab a week ago. It still could hold true for new visitors, but old – timers would feel the difference.

Of course, a cool lab is in the pipeline. And it could take a semester! So till then, have been busy setting up a temporary working environment which involves

1) Throwing away all dysfunctional hardware to one side of the lab.

2) Getting atleast 10 machines up and running – more importantly they have Linux on them – so there is high probability they will still be running a month from now – unlike Windows.

3) The Wifi is back. Get your laptops in – though good luck finding a place to keep them – still to clean up half of the lab.

4) What’s in the pipeline – a cool server to begin with, lots of machines that work, separate accounts/disk quotas for everyone, nullifying the idea of UG/PG lab – sit anywhere …and maybe cameras and biometric security – if things go well!

P.S. Credit also for the rest of the people who are working on it … and of course the HoD who’s backing it up!

It’s really cold. Winter vacations end…and the REAL winters begin. Ironic!

That which you run from, will come back to haunt you (or in other words, you might not meet people you want to, but the ones you don’t want to meet will assert their presence atleast twice – Murphy’s Law (more)

Attending classes you haven’t registered for might sometimes surprise you in the beginning, but you end up with your ears attending to your mp3 player than the professor’s vocal cords.

It’s difficult to concentrate on a course that has a shaky future because just four people have turned up on Day 1!

It’s just priceless to see somebody turn red !

A and C slots are just pure torture – funny why I have never felt this before!

Given the right accented professor, even storage peripherals (read : hard disk) and system software (read : bootloader) can sound really interesting!
